Leslie A. Westbrook
Having lived in Santa Barbara for more than 30 years, she was the perfect person to author the comprehensive “Insiders Guide to Santa Barbara” (5th edition) published by Globe Pequot Press.
She began her solo travels and zest for independence at a very young age, riding the train from LA’s Union Station to Riverside as a little girl, watched over by the caring train porters. Since then she has traveled the globe on assignment for national and regional publications including Conde Nast Traveler, Sunset, Westways, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Miami Herald, among dozens of others. She has also filed radio reports and appeared on television. Westbrook has covered the Carribean, U.S., Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America (one of her favorite destinations) over the years. Her home state of California also remains a favorite place to explore and write about.
Ms. Westbrook currently contributes to AFAR magazine (lesser know Northern Peru- March issue); online as a hotel reviewer for jetsetter.com and to NextAvenue.org, a PBS affiliated online publication for boomers, as well as many regional publications in her neck of the woods.
This is her second book. She is currently working on a memoir and also helps aspiring authors with their memoirs, most recently working with Academy- and Grammy-Award winning jazz composer Johnny Mandel.
